The one in the photo is the production version sitting on the laminated instructions, June 2017.
here is what Andy Evans said about his 42mm type:
Chris,
It has tough, hard wearing nylon shaped replaceable cones / bobbins that lock it into the ears, this won't damage the ears, the plate is chemiblacked so it should look good even in a few years time.
Comes with laminated instruction sheet wrapped around the product.
This tool uses a 1/2" drive 27mm socket, a 24" or 30" breaker bar to undo them & a Sealey torque wrench (both socket & Sealey torque wrench can be supplied for £55 inc vat) to do them up, we have now tested this several times & now have an accurate torque figure that doesn't damage the wheels, Knock-on nuts or hubs.
Suffice to say, it's not nearly as much as everyone thinks if the wheel & nut tapers are lightly greased, as per the Rudge Whitworth instructions.
The latest Heavy Duty type available now retails at £84 inc vat, an increase of £7.67 due to material costs £93 inc packing & Royal Mail 1st class in the mainland UK or a total of £173.80 with the socket & Sealey torque wrench (we have had some problems with cheaper torque wrench's) due to size & weight of the parcel with carriers (please enquire for postage or courier rates other than UK mainland),which I'm sure you will agree still compares well with the Wooden Spinner savers which fall to bits at about £26.50 + vat each or £31.80 including vat - we have sold 60 of this type of spinner spanner & 100 of the smaller 42mm with 2 failures which is why we only sell the HD unit.
As of the May 2015 we test every one to 350 lbs ft, we suggest that you use them to 250 lbs ft only, BTW the studding now breaks at about 500 lbs ft.
