DB2 to DB MkIII Gearbox mainshafts were plated with copper on the bearing surfaces of 2nd & 3rd gears, these surfaces wear out allowing too much play in the gears, the gears then 'rock' when changing gear quickly & jam,
We offer a service for reconditioning your own or exchange mainshafts with re-coppered gear bearing surfaces & an insert fitted to the middle Roller bearing surface which allows the use of an easily available bearing. This makes the mainshaft almost 'as new' if the splines are not worn, which is very unusual.
We offer the insert & grind of the insert for an easily available centre bearing for Close Ratio mainshaft's
Please note that the rivets holding the synchro hubs to the gears break / come loose, which also 'baulks' the gear when changing up or down, we stock these as well (about 7800 !)
